Beat The Peak
What is the Beat the Peak programme?
Beat the Peak is a collection of initiatives for homes and businesses to try to move energy
consumption away from times that put strain on the network, towards times of cleaner
supply. This is increasingly important as both the amount of renewable generation increases
and the load for electric heating and mobility increases too.
How Does it work
Payments of around 60 c/kWh are made for reducing load at peak times. That is between
16:30 and 19:00 every weekday and also at renotified peak event times. For example,
reducing your load by 100 kW at peak times can earn you around €40,000 per year.
Arden Energy will analyse your quarter hourly metering data and ask you a few simple
questions about your energy consumption to assess the opportunity.
We will send you a report detailing the options for generating revenues from flexibility
including load reduction and battery installation. We will explain investment and zero
investment, service based, options
Who can take part
- Only businesses connected to certain designated substations in North County Dublin,
Fermoy and Mallow can participate. - Businesses must have a quarter hourly meter (MCC10 or MCC11 on the top right of
your bill). - Businesses must be able to reduce loads at peak times either through shifting
consumption (eg refrigeration loads) or generating electricity with a combined heat
and power plant or a Battery Energy Storage System.Contact us and we will be able to quickly check if you qualify.
